11:25 PM EDT, 09/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Moody's upgraded Renault's (RNO.PA) long-term issuer rating to Baa3 from Ba1, citing the sustained improvement in the company's credit quality over recent years. The rating agency said Monday the action also reflects its expectation that the French carmaker will be able to maintain credit metrics in line with the new rating despite challenges in the automotive market environment. It then highlighted Renault's improved financial profile, long-standing ownership structure and low capital intensity compared with its peers. Additionally, Moody's revised its outlook on the rating to stable from positive, noting expectations that the company will be able to sustain its "conservative" financial profile, positive free cash flow generation and balance sheet flexibility amid pressures and investments linked to electrification and internationalization. Renault's credit metrics are expected to be consistent with the new rating over the next 12 to 18 months.
