Basilea Pharmaceutica Partner Commences Antifungal Drug's Mid-stage Trial for Children in Japan

01:33 AM EDT, 09/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Basilea Pharmaceutica's (BSLN.SW) partner, Asahi Kasei Therapeutics, launched a mid-stage clinical trial of the antifungal Cresemba to treat pediatric patients at risk of deep mycoses in Japan. The phase 2 study will evaluate the drug's safety and pharmacokinetics, according to a Monday release. Cresemba, or isavuconazole, is currently approved for severe fungal infections in adults in Japan. It is authorized in the US, Canada, Europe and China for pediatric use.
