Space42, Viasat to Create Shared Space, Ground Infrastructure Platform

11:59 PM EDT, 09/13/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Space42 (ADX:SPACE42) and satellite and secure communications company Viasat agreed to create a shared space and ground infrastructure platform, Equatys. The space technology company and Viasat will initially contribute up to $1 billion in combined equity for the initial constellation, which includes a scale-up to 2,800 satellites across 60 orbital planes, according to a Sunday release. The funding will come from founders' and third-party equity and other debt financing sources. The platform will extend mobile coverage in populated metro areas, with Viasat to serve as the prime technology contractor. The creation of Equatys is subject to customary closing conditions.
