The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 37 cents per share.

The footwear wholesaler and retailer posted revenue of $695.5 million in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $702.5 million.

For the current quarter ending in October, Caleres Inc. expects its per-share earnings to range from 62 cents to 70 cents.

The company expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.50 to $1.65 per share.
