Market forces rained on the parade of Oiltek International Limited (SGX:HQU) shareholders today, when the analysts downgraded their forecasts for this year. Both revenue and earnings per share (EPS) estimates were cut sharply as the analysts factored in the latest outlook for the business, concluding that they were too optimistic previously.
Following the downgrade, the latest consensus from Oiltek International's three analysts is for revenues of RM225m in 2026, which would reflect a reasonable 7.4% improvement in sales compared to the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are presumed to soar 20% to RM0.087. Prior to this update, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of RM258m and earnings per share (EPS) of RM0.10 in 2026. It looks like analyst sentiment has declined substantially, with a substantial drop in revenue estimates and a considerable drop in earnings per share numbers as well.

The consensus price target fell 8.1% to S$2.72, with the weaker earnings outlook clearly leading analyst valuation estimates.
Looking at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can make sense of these forecasts is to see how they measure up against both past performance and industry growth estimates. We would highlight that Oiltek International's revenue growth is expected to slow, with the forecast 7.4% annualised growth rate until the end of 2026 being well below the historical 16% p.a. growth over the last five years. Compare this against other companies (with analyst forecasts) in the industry, which are in aggregate expected to see revenue growth of 17% annually. So it's pretty clear that, while revenue growth is expected to slow down, the wider industry is also expected to grow faster than Oiltek International.
The biggest issue in the new estimates is that analysts have reduced their earnings per share estimates, suggesting business headwinds lay ahead for Oiltek International. Regrettably, they also downgraded their revenue estimates, and the latest forecasts imply the business will grow sales slower than the wider market. With a serious cut to this year's expectations and a falling price target, we wouldn't be surprised if investors were becoming wary of Oiltek International.
Even so, the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for the value creation of shareholders. At Simply Wall St, we have a full range of analyst estimates for Oiltek International going out to 2028, and you can see them free on our platform here.
