Uber, Wayve Bring Supervised Autonomous Rides to London

11:02 AM EDT, 09/03/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Uber Technologies (UT8.F, UBER.VI) and UK self-driving technology startup Wayve launched the initial phase of their autonomous ride-hailing service, Wayve AI Driver, with supervised rides in London. Customers who book the US ride-hailing giant's UberX, Uber Electric, or Uber Comfort during the initial phase may be matched with a Wayve vehicle. A trained private hire driver will be on board to oversee the trip.
