The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.12 per share.
The design software company posted revenue of $2.05 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.01 billion.
For the current quarter ending in October, Autodesk expects its per-share earnings to range from $3.04 to $3.09.
The company said it expects revenue in the range of $2.13 billion to $2.14 billion for the fiscal third quarter.
Autodesk expects full-year earnings in the range of $12.52 to $12.60 per share, with revenue ranging from $8.3 billion to $8.35 billion.
Autodesk shares have declined slightly more than 8% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has risen 13%. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $271.15, a fall of 5% in the last 12 months.
