U.S. stocks traded mostly higher this morning, with the Nasdaq Composite gaining around 200 points on Thursday.
Following the market opening Thursday, the Dow traded down 0.01% to 53,457.46 while the NASDAQ climbed 0.77% to 26,332.01. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.27% to 7,696.27.
Leading and Lagging Sectors
Information technology shares jumped by 2.2% on Thursday.
In trading on Thursday, consumer staples stocks fell by 1.1%.
Top Headline
Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) reported better-than-expected second-quarter financial results and issued a strong revenue forecast for the current quarter, after the closing bell on Wednesday.
Nvidia reported second-quarter revenue of $96.22 billion, up 106% year-over-year. The revenue total beat a Street consensus estimate of $92.18 billion, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

In commodity news, oil traded up 0.7% to $82.77 while gold traded down 0.5% at $4,629.50.
Silver traded down 0.2% to $67.880 on Thursday, while copper rose 1.1% to $6.6745.
Euro zone
European shares were mostly lower today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 fell 0.6%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index fell 0.7%, London’s FTSE 100 fell 0.6%, Germany’s DAX gained 0.2%, while France’s CAC 40 dipped 1.6%.
Asia Pacific Markets
Asian markets closed mostly lower on Wednesday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 falling 0.20%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index dropping 0.34%, China’s Shanghai Composite rising 1.13% and India’s BSE Sensex falling 0.70%.
