UK Court Orders Samsung to Pay Swatch $11.6 Million for Trademark Infringement

10:45 AM EDT, 08/26/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Swatch Group (UHR.SW) said Wednesday a UK court ordered Samsung Electronics (SMSN.L) to pay the Swiss watchmaker $11.6 million in damages for trademark infringement. In a statement to MT Newswires, Swatch said the High Court of England & Wales handed down the award in favor of 10 of its brands, including Breguet, Omega, Longines and Tissot, after earlier judgments found that the South Korean technology giant infringed on the watchmaker's trademarks between late 2015 and early 2019. Swatch initially sought $170 million in damages after earlier rulings found that Samsung illegally allowed copied displays of the watchmaker's brands on its smartwatches and app store, but Samsung argued that Swatch was owed no more than $300 in damages, the Financial Times noted in a Wednesday report. "Samsung repeatedly attempted to downplay the scale and significance of the infringements by trivializing the compensation owed to the Swatch Group's well-known brands," Swatch said, adding that separate proceedings remain pending in the US.
