Metals One Affiliate Closes Deal to Acquire Barbrook Gold Mine in South Africa

08:27 AM EDT, 08/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Metals One (MET1.L)-backed Lions Bay Resources concluded an acquisition agreement for the Barbrook gold mine in Mpumalanga, South Africa, as part of the mine's business rescue plan. Lions Bay Resources has requested the South African Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources for transfer of the mining rights, according to a Friday filing. The critical and precious metals project developer noted that Lions Bay Resources has established a presence on the project and is currently undertaking plant cleanup.
