PeptiDream Inc. (TSE:4587) just released its latest half-yearly report and things are not looking great. It was not a great statutory result, with revenues coming in 21% lower than the analysts predicted. Unsurprisingly, earnings also fell seriously short of forecasts, turning into a per-share loss of JP¥8.89. This is an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance in its report, look at what experts are forecasting for next year, and see if there has been any change to expectations for the business. So we gathered the latest post-earnings forecasts to see what estimates suggest is in store for next year.

After the latest results, the seven analysts covering PeptiDream are now predicting revenues of JP¥44.7b in 2026. If met, this would reflect a substantial 133% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Earnings are expected to improve, with PeptiDream forecast to report a statutory profit of JP¥99.43 per share. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of JP¥44.7b and earnings per share (EPS) of JP¥98.59 in 2026. The consensus analysts don't seem to have seen anything in these results that would have changed their view on the business, given there's been no major change to their estimates.

There were no changes to revenue or earnings estimates or the price target of JP¥2,725, suggesting that the company has met expectations in its recent result. There's another way to think about price targets though, and that's to look at the range of price targets put forward by analysts, because a wide range of estimates could suggest a diverse view on possible outcomes for the business. The most optimistic PeptiDream analyst has a price target of JP¥4,400 per share, while the most pessimistic values it at JP¥1,100. With such a wide range in price targets, analysts are almost certainly betting on widely divergent outcomes in the underlying business. As a result it might not be a great idea to make decisions based on the consensus price target, which is after all just an average of this wide range of estimates.

Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry itself. It's clear from the latest estimates that PeptiDream's rate of growth is expected to accelerate meaningfully, with the forecast 4x annualised revenue growth to the end of 2026 noticeably faster than its historical growth of 13% p.a. over the past five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in a similar industry are forecast to grow their revenue at 30% per year. Factoring in the forecast acceleration in revenue, it's pretty clear that PeptiDream is expected to grow much faster than its industry.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away is that there's been no major change in sentiment, with the analysts reconfirming that the business is performing in line with their previous earnings per share estimates. Happily, there were no major changes to revenue forecasts, with the business still expected to grow faster than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.

With that said, the long-term trajectory of the company's earnings is a lot more important than next year. At Simply Wall St, we have a full range of analyst estimates for PeptiDream going out to 2028, and you can see them free on our platform here..
