Savannah Secures Benefit Sharing Deals with Locals for Barroso Lithium Project in Portugal

04:27 AM EDT, 08/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Savannah Resources (SAV.L) signed three benefit-sharing agreements with local communities to further access land for the Barroso lithium project in Portugal. The agreements were signed with the communities that hold and manage various communal lands, according to a Wednesday filing. The lithium developer now has access agreements in place with two of the three communities that manage lands on the project's mining concessions. Savannah said the agreements ensure community insight in the project oversight bodies, local reinvestment of benefits and fair rent-based compensation. The company said it has bought 111 land plots from private owners to date, and holds an additional 16 under promissory contracts. It also acquired stakes in additional plots, which have multiple owners.
