Insiders who bought AU$287.1k worth of APC Minerals Limited (ASX:APC) stock in the last year have seen some of their losses recouped as the stock gained 14% last week. The purchase, however, has proven to be a pricey bet, with losses currently totalling AU$96k.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

APC Minerals Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Joshua gordon bought AU$165k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.013 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of AU$0.008. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock when an insider has bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price. Joshua gordon was the only individual insider to buy during the last year. Notably Joshua gordon was also the biggest seller.

Joshua gordon purchased 23.90m shares over the year. The average price per share was AU$0.012.
