02:01 AM EDT, 07/31/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BHP Group (BHP.L, BHG.JO) said unions representing workers at its mines in the Pilbara region of Australia should focus on the upcoming bargaining meeting if they "genuinely wanted an agreement" after it was reported that they are organizing industrial action. "It is disappointing that they are creating more disruptions. BHP is frustrated by the lack of progress in bargaining and concerned about the lack of genuine engagement from the unions in bargaining meetings," a spokesperson for the mining company said in an emailed statement to MT Newswires on Friday. The company, which has already offered a 16% pay increase, is scheduled to meet workers' representatives on Aug. 4 in a bargaining meeting organized by Australia's Fair Work Commission. It said it also has plans in place for potential business disruptions and that it will seek support from the commission, if needed, to quickly agree on "a fair and reasonable" deal.
