Menarini's Cholesterol-lowering Drug Recommended for EU Approval

07:04 AM EDT, 07/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Menarini Group's Evlarco drug was recommended for approval by the European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use for the treatment of adults with primary hypercholesterolaemia or mixed dyslipidaemia, according to a Friday release. The committee's positive opinion is based on a 12-week study in which the drug lowered LDL cholesterol in patients with high cholesterol and/or atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease or multiple atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk factors, who were already receiving the maximum tolerated cholesterol-lowering treatment, compared with placebo. The European Commission will issue a final decision on whether to grant the marketing authorization for Evlarco.
