European Commission Issues Conditional Approval for Paramount's Purchase of Warner Bros

The executive body of the European Union said Wednesday its clearance of the transaction remains subject to the completion of Paramount's commitments to allay competition concerns in the bloc. Paramount's commitments include the sale of its interest in United International Pictures within 13 months of closing the Warner Bros deal and to pause joint distribution of films in the European Economic Area with NBC Universal for a decade, along with a remedy involving theatrical distribution in Europe.
