06:33 AM EDT, 07/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK Government is looking to boost local stock market listings, with the Treasury and Downing Street holding meetings with several private equity and venture capital firms to encourage more initial public offerings on the London bourse, London's Financial Times reported Thursday, citing people close to the situation. The meetings involved firms including Hg Capital, Clayton Dubilier & Rice, General Atlantic, CVC Capital Partners (CVC.AS), EQT (EQT.ST) and Elliott Investment Management, and formed part of the government's wider effort to revive the London stock exchange, according to the report. Discussions focused mainly on stamp duty, pensions reform and measures adopted by other European countries to encourage greater investment in domestic equities, the report added. The UK Treasury did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
