SBTi Approves Metso's Updated Emissions Reduction Targets

05:08 AM EST, 01/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Metso (METSO.HE) said Thursday it secured the Science Based Targets initiative's approval for its revised short and long-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets. The Finnish sustainable technologies company now targets net-zero scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and aims to achieve full net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2050. Metso also aims to reduce emissions from the use of sold products by 51.6% per euro of product revenue by 2030, compared with a 2024 baseline. Additionally, 40% of its suppliers by spend are expected to have science-based targets in place by 2030, up from a previous goal of 30% by 2025.
