Italian Annual Inflation Rate Climbs to 1.2% in December 2025

05:13 AM EST, 01/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Italy's annual inflation rate edged up to 1.2% in December 2025 from 1.1% in November 2025, provisional data from statistics agency Istat showed Wednesday. The consensus estimate for the month was 1.1%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices ticked up 0.2%, in line with the market forecast and against the prior 0.2% decrease. The Italian harmonized inflation rate stood at 1.2% on an annual basis, consistent with consensus estimates and up from the previous reading of 1.1%. Month over month, harmonized consumer prices were 0.2% higher, compared with the previous 0.2% decline.
