ADRC Becomes Affiliate of CaringKind, Bringing Enhanced Programs, Expanded Resources, and Deeper Community Impact to Families Facing Alzheimer's and Related Dementias

NEW YORK, Jan. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- CaringKind, a trusted partner in dementia care and the nation's first Alzheimer's organization, today announced that Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center (ADRC) has become an affiliate of CaringKind. This strategic partnership expands access to comprehensive, compassionate support for people living with dementia and their care partners across New York City, Long Island, and the greater New York region.

"This merger represents a powerful step forward in how we serve individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer's and dementia," said Eleonora Tornatore-Mikesh, President & CEO of CaringKind. "By uniting CaringKind and ADRC, we are combining decades of trusted expertise, community reach, and evidence-based programs to ensure more families—across New York and beyond—have access to education, support, and hope when they need it most."

The affiliation unites CaringKind's 45-year legacy as a trusted partner delivering free, comprehensive care and support with ADRC's deep community roots serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties for more than 40 years. Together, the organizations will strengthen their ability to deliver person-centered programs and expand access to critical resources for thousands of families navigating the Alzheimer's and dementia journey across New York City, Long Island, and beyond creating a powerful network of care, connection, and hope.

"This affiliate partnership represents a pivotal moment in our mission to ensure no one faces dementia alone," said Jeff Jones, CaringKind Board Co-Chair. "By joining forces with ADRC, we are expanding our reach and deepening our capacity to deliver the compassionate, comprehensive care that families desperately need. Together, we will walk beside more people, in more communities, every step of the way."

As a CaringKind affiliate, ADRC maintains its dedicated Long Island presence while gaining access to CaringKind's extensive resources, including its 24/7 Helpline, evidence-based programs such as Connect2Living and Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST), care partner education and support, and professional workforce training. ADRC's East Islip Resource Center, signature Memory Walk & Spring Festival, and longstanding healthcare partnerships across East Nassau and Suffolk Counties will continue and expand under the CaringKind umbrella.

"ADRC has spent more than 40 years building trusted relationships with Long Island families, and this affiliate partnership ensures those relationships will grow stronger," said Lauren Vlachos, Executive Director of ADRC. "With CaringKind's resources, expertise, and comprehensive programming, we can expand the services our community depends on while maintaining the local, personal touch that defines our work. This is about amplifying our impact and serving even more Long Islanders living with dementia and their families."

Expanded Services Across the Region

Through the affiliation, individuals and families across the region will benefit from:

  • 24/7 Helpline (646-744-2900) connecting people to dementia specialists and personalized guidance
  • Enhanced Care Consultations providing personalized navigation throughout the dementia journey
  • Connect2Living programs including Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST), Connect2Music and To Whom I May Concern®
  • Care partner education and support including Partnering Together and Journey Together workshops and Passages bereavement support
  • Community programs serving diverse and historically underserved populations including Chinese, Hispanic/Latino, Jewish, LGBTQ+, and Black and African American communities

The partnership ensures that ADRC's commitment to Long Island remains strong. All ADRC staff have joined CaringKind, preserving the trusted local relationships and expertise that Long Island communities trust.

Meeting a Growing Need

The affiliation comes at a critical time. With more than seven million Americans living with Alzheimer's disease and millions more impacted as care partners, demand for dementia care continues to rise. Simultaneously, advances in Alzheimer's research, including new FDA-approved blood tests and lifestyle intervention studies like US POINTER, offer unprecedented hope for early detection and prevention.

"This affiliation reflects our deep belief that families and caregivers deserve the strongest network of support possible" said Adam Demetri, ADRC Board Chair. "We are genuinely excited to partner with CaringKind, an organization that shares our heart, our mission, and our dedication to those touched by Alzheimer's and related dementias. Together, we will reach more people, offer deeper resources, and be a trusted partner with families and caregivers all across Long Island who are dealing with a loved one's cognitive decline."

Together, CaringKind and ADRC's are ensuring that as science advances, compassionate care keeps pace, and no one faces this dementia alone.
