Market Might Still Lack Some Conviction On Anghami Inc. (NASDAQ:ANGH) Even After 28% Share Price Boost

Anghami Inc. (NASDAQ:ANGH) shareholders have had their patience rewarded with a 28% share price jump in the last month. Still, the 30-day jump doesn't change the fact that longer term shareholders have seen their stock decimated by the 54% share price drop in the last twelve months.

Even after such a large jump in price, Anghami may still be sending buy signals at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.3x, considering almost half of all companies in the Entertainment industry in the United States have P/S ratios greater than 1.6x and even P/S higher than 5x aren't out of the ordinary. Although, it's not wise to just take the P/S at face value as there may be an explanation why it's limited.

How Has Anghami Performed Recently?

Recent times have been quite advantageous for Anghami as its revenue has been rising very briskly. One possibility is that the P/S ratio is low because investors think this strong revenue growth might actually underperform the broader industry in the near future. If that doesn't eventuate, then existing shareholders have reason to be quite optimistic about the future direction of the share price.

We don't have analyst forecasts, but you can see how recent trends are setting up the company for the future by checking out our free report on Anghami's earnings, revenue and cash flow.

Is There Any Revenue Growth Forecasted For Anghami?

In order to justify its P/S ratio, Anghami would need to produce sluggish growth that's trailing the industry.

Retrospectively, the last year delivered an exceptional 85% gain to the company's top line. Pleasingly, revenue has also lifted 140% in aggregate from three years ago, thanks to the last 12 months of growth. Accordingly, shareholders would have definitely welcomed those medium-term rates of revenue growth.

This is in contrast to the rest of the industry, which is expected to grow by 19% over the next year, materially lower than the company's recent medium-term annualised growth rates.

With this in mind, we find it intriguing that Anghami's P/S isn't as high compared to that of its industry peers. Apparently some shareholders believe the recent performance has exceeded its limits and have been accepting significantly lower selling prices.

What We Can Learn From Anghami's P/S?

Anghami's stock price has surged recently, but its but its P/S still remains modest. Typically, we'd caution against reading too much into price-to-sales ratios when settling on investment decisions, though it can reveal plenty about what other market participants think about the company.

Our examination of Anghami revealed its three-year revenue trends aren't boosting its P/S anywhere near as much as we would have predicted, given they look better than current industry expectations. When we see strong revenue with faster-than-industry growth, we assume there are some significant underlying risks to the company's ability to make money which is applying downwards pressure on the P/S ratio. It appears many are indeed anticipating revenue instability, because the persistence of these recent medium-term conditions would normally provide a boost to the share price.
