Redevelopment Projects Dominated Florida’s 6-10 Most-Read Stories of 2025

The theme of converting once-thriving retail centers to mixed-use projects was common throughout the Southeast. Investors left some profitable retailers in place, but others were bulldozed to make way for apartments, offices and entertainment venues.

While the sale of a Delray Beach retail center came in as the 6th most widely story of the year, 7-10 all featured an adaptive-reuse angle. A Pompano Beach hotel was converted to apartments, a North Miami mall kicked off a $150 million transformation, a Tampa mall was preparing for redevelopment and a Fort Lauderdale mall changed hands with a major redo on way.
