10:13 AM EST, 12/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms (FB2A.F) was ordered by Austria's Supreme Court to provide European Union users of its platforms with access to their personal data within 14 days of a request. Reuters reported Thursday that the ruling, which was made Tuesday and publicized two days later, also found the company's personalized advertising model to be unlawful. The court also rejected the social media network operator's trade secret claims; Meta is therefore expected to disclose comprehensive information about sources, recipients and their purposes. The top court ruling ends the case filed by Austrian privacy activist Max Schrems in 2014, the report noted. Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
