German Defense Group Rheinmetall in Talks to Sell Civil Business Operations

11:30 PM EST, 12/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Rheinmetall (RHM.F) said Wednesday it is negotiating the sale of its civil business activities with two potential buyers as part of a strategy to focus on its military business. The defense manufacturer received binding offers for its Power Systems division from two bidders following the start of talks with interested parties in April. It is targeting a formal contract signing in the first quarter of 2026. As the assets to be divested are classified as discontinued operations, Rheinmetall expects to record a non-cash impairment loss of 350 million euros. However, the impairment is not expected to impact the liquidity or earnings of Rheinmetall's continuing operations.
