Schroder European REIT Confirms KPN Lease Termination, Mulls Options for Dutch Property

10:21 PM EST, 12/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Schroder European Real Estate Investment Trust (SERE.L) is reviewing "a number of mitigation strategies" after KPN (KPN.AS) gave formal notice to leave a Dutch property that represents 19% of the London-listed group's portfolio. The Dutch telecommunications group intends to end its lease for the mixed-use Apeldoorn office and data center property, effective Dec. 31, 2026, according to a Tuesday filing. As the termination will hit the real estate investment trust's future income profile, Schroder said its investment manager's options include finding new tenants, converting the 11.8 million-euro site to a medium-density residential development, or a sale.
