Eni Flags Gas Discovery in Indonesia

04:53 AM EST, 12/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Eni (ENI.MI) said Tuesday it made a significant gas discovery at the Konta-1 exploration well in the Kutei Basin off the coast of Indonesia. The Konta-1 well, which was drilled to a depth of 4,575 meters, identified gas in four sandstone reservoirs that hold an estimated 600 billion cubic feet of gas initially in place, with potential to reach over 1 trillion cubic feet. The discovery is located in the Muara Bakau production sharing contract area, in which Eni holds an 88.334% participating interest and Saka Energi 11.666%.
