Plymouth Housing has completed the $18.4 million renovation of Seattle’s Pacific Apartments, a 110-year-old historic multifamily property located at 317 Marion St.
Built in 1915 as a single-room occupancy hotel, here tenants had private bedrooms and shared bathrooms. The Leamington Hotel and Apartments was designed to house travelers and transient workers. It was later designated as a Seattle Landmark. By the 1980s, however, the building stood vacant.
The remodel transformed the original 112 single-room occupancy units with shared bathrooms and kitchens into 89 modern studio and one-bedroom apartments. The project also included modernization of the interior systems and updated shared community spaces, while preserving the 110-year-old building’s original character.
ARC Architecture was the designer, and Rafn Co. Construction was the general contractor. The renovation was financed through loans totaling $6.4 million from the Washington Department of Commerce and a junior loan of $11.9 million from the city of Seattle
