11:49 PM EST, 12/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Stellantis (STLAM.MI, STLAP.PA) received a default notice from the Canadian government for moving the production of its Jeep Compass SUV model to the US, Bloomberg News reported Friday. Canadian Industry Minister Melanie Joly said the default notice is related to government-backed financial aid worth CA$500 million, the news outlet reported. The financing was intended for capital expenditures at two Stellantis assembly plants. The automaker has laid off 3,000 workers at the Brampton plant in Ontario after announcing plans to move production to the US. Stellantis did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
