UPM-Kymmene Projects Stronger Growth Through Proposed Sappi JV

05:55 AM EST, 12/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- UPM-Kymmene (UPM.HE) said Thursday the proposed joint venture between UPM Communication Papers and Sappi (SAP.JO) is expected to boost its growth profile by improving margins and leverage, while reducing exposure to shrinking European and North American graphic paper markets. Following completion of the deal, the Finnish forest products maker's portfolio will primarily be focused on renewable fibres, advanced materials, and decarbonization technologies. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
