Nokia to Deploy IP, Optical Network for KPN's FabriQ Upgrade in Netherlands

06:21 AM EST, 12/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Dutch telecommunications group KPN (KPN.AS) chose Nokia (NOKIA.HE, NOKIA.PA) to deploy an 800G-capable IP and optical network as part of FabriQ, a nationwide overhaul of the Netherlands' core digital infrastructure. The upgrade will replace KPN's existing backbone with the Finnish telecommunications equipment maker's FP5-powered IP routers and PSE-6 optical systems, boosting total capacity to over 216 terabits per second from 48 tbps and enabling customer services above 10 gigabits per second.
