The Korean government will implement an A to C rating system for postnatal care centers in the country from 2026 to respond to long-standing public criticism of the lack of transparency in the operation of such institutions. According to a report by South Korea's “Joongang Ilbo” on December 3, there are huge differences in fees at post-natal care centers in South Korea, and it is difficult for consumers to obtain objective information on service quality, hygiene conditions, and safety. Recently, an incident involving the wrong newborn occurred in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do, causing public concern. South Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 3rd that it will promulgate and implement new regulations on the “Postnatal Care Center Evaluation Notice” to establish evaluation standards and procedures. The Ministry of Health and Welfare of Korea plans to develop an annual evaluation plan, issue notices to relevant agencies across the country, and accept applications for evaluation. The evaluation results are valid for three years, and the first round of evaluation results is expected to be announced in the fourth quarter of 2026.
