US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick once again criticized EU digital regulations in an interview with the media on the 3rd. He believes that Europe's technical rules are causing major losses to itself. Recently, there has been renewed friction between the US and Europe over digital regulation. The US accuses EU regulations of being unfair to US technology companies, and uses tariffs on steel and aluminum products as a bargaining chip to demand “untie” the EU. The European Union, on the other hand, criticized the US for “extortion,” and insisted that digital regulations related to sovereignty should not be challenged. In an interview with the US Consumer News and Business Channel, Lutnick said that there are readily available funds for large technology companies to invest in the development of artificial intelligence in Europe. If Europe adopts the Trump administration's rules on artificial intelligence, it will also receive huge investments like the US. He also revealed that he had made similar statements to the British side. Lutnick said that he told EU leaders in Brussels last week that the EU needs to stop targeting US technology companies and that it needs to reach a balance. If the EU is to reach the best trade deal with the US, it needs to make a deal.
