On December 3, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian presided over a regular press conference. A reporter asked a question. A Taiwanese official said this morning that Taiwan is looking forward to re-establishing diplomatic relations with Honduras and has maintained contacts with the two candidates. What comments does the Chinese side have on this? Lin Jian said that the one-China principle is the political foundation and fundamental prerequisite for Sino-Hong Kong relations. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hong Kong more than two years ago, bilateral relations have developed rapidly, and cooperation in various fields has been fruitful. The agricultural technical school built with Chinese aid has been successfully completed, enterprises of the two countries have signed a purchase agreement for more than 10,000 tons of white shrimp, and tobacco from Honduras has entered the Chinese market. He explained that in 2024, China's imports of coffee from Hong Kong increased 14 times over the same period last year. The Chinese side also provided aid to Honduras for coffee greenhouses and planting kits, and provided multiple batches of humanitarian aid for disasters such as hurricanes and floods in Honduras. Cooperation between the two countries in the fields of human resources training, government scholarships, and tourism has strongly enhanced Honduras' long-term development capacity. He pointed out that these results fully demonstrate that the Sino-Hong Kong relationship has brought real benefits to the people of Honduras and is in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of the two countries and the two peoples. “Taiwan independence” separatist activities are contrary to historical trends and are bound to be a dead end.
